World Book Day
World Book Day changes lives through a love of books and shared reading. Their mission is to promote reading for pleasure, offering every child and young person the opportunity to have a book of their own.
Reading for pleasure is the single biggest indicator of a child’s future success – more than their family circumstances, their parents’ educational background or their income.
This week at Scribbles the children came in dressed as their favourite book character, they all looked fantastic! They all had great fun joining in with lots of different activities relating to World Book Day.
We created story book related messy play, such as 'Peppa Pig in the muddy puddles' and 'Lady and the Tramp sharing their spaghetti.' The children got to go on their very own bear hunt by walking through wavy grass and jumping in deep, muddy puddles, followed by listening to the story of 'Going on a Bear Hunt.'
The children got creative and designed their very own book marks. They enjoyed listening to lots of stories, played the game 'Where's the Character' and had a very special visit from Spiderman!
